Tagged Events

Tagged events allow a sequence of events to run multiple times throughout a level, without needing to copy them. They behave similar to functions in programming.

Setting up Tags

An event in the editor can have a single tag added to it by clicking the “Bar” label at the top of the inspector, and then typing a tag name into the text field.

Click the “Bar” text to switch to the tag menu (or press shift+0)

Unlike normal events, tagged events will not execute when their bar and beat is reached. They will instead execute every time their tag is “run” by Tag Action event.

Pressing the play button to the right of the text field will allow the event to run normally when reached, while still functioning as a tagged event.

A tagged event is indicated by a badge in the bottom-left corner.

Running Tags

A tag can be run from the Tag Action event

A Tag Action event running the tag “mytag”

A Tag Action event running the tag “mytag”

Running a tag will activate ALL events with the tag, regardless of the current timeline position.

If multiple events share the same tag, they will be activated from left to right as if they were being passed through during playback. The leftmost event will always run immediately, and subsequent events will account for its distance in beats from it.

Tagged events will run every time their tag is run, unless they have a “Times Executed” conditional.

Simple Example

Below is an example of a re-used effect that does not utilize tags:
